Mantova and our commitment to renewable energy

Mantova and our commitment to renewable energy

Building a more sustainable future requires concrete actions, strategic decisions, and environmental responsibility. At Mantova, we have adopted practices to reduce our carbon footprint and ensure a more sustainable operation. One of these steps was obtaining the I-REC certification — an international seal that verifies our electricity consumption has been offset through renewable energy sources.

What is the I-REC Certification?

The I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) is a global system that certifies the renewable origin of energy consumed by companies and institutions. It serves as a "green receipt," ensuring that the electricity used was generated from sustainable sources such as hydro, wind, or solar power.

How does energy compensation work at Mantova?

From January 2023 to December 2024, we ensured that 100% of our electricity consumption was offset by renewable sources through I-REC. In the 2024 certificate, for example, the energy used was compensated by the Henry Borden hydroelectric plant, located in Cubatão, São Paulo. According to the GHG Protocol — the leading global standard for carbon emissions measurement — this compensation represents a significant reduction in the environmental impact of our operations during this period.

Beyond I-REC: our sustainable practices

The I-REC seal is part of a broader set of actions that demonstrate our ongoing commitment to sustainability. At Mantova, we strive to go beyond certification by adopting practices aligned with the decarbonization of our operations. These include measuring carbon emissions through a detailed inventory; planning our decarbonization roadmap with clear environmental impact reduction targets; and purchasing incentivized energy from 100% renewable sources.

Why invest in renewable energy?

The energy transition is essential for companies aiming to align their operations with global sustainability standards. In addition to reducing emissions, investing in renewable energy offers benefits such as: compliance with ESG criteria, which are increasingly valued by the market; enhanced corporate reputation through demonstrated environmental commitment; greater energy efficiency; and reduced future regulatory risks.

Building a more sustainable future

At Mantova, we believe that every step toward sustainability makes a difference. The I-REC certification reflects this commitment and reinforces our responsibility to protect the environment.
