Mantova supports two research projects in partnership with IFRS
On August 5, the final list of projects approved in the FAPERGS Public Notice 04/2020 was published. Mantova had two proposals approved for the development of new products, together with IFRS, Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul, with a focus on applied research and technological development and innovation. These researches will be conducted, at the Institute, by researchers Dra. Fernanda Trindade Gonzalez Dias and Prof. Dr. Edson Luiz Francisquetti.
The projects aim to improve the sustainability of Mantova's products, minimizing environmental impacts. One of them will develop a plastic connector using poly (tetrafluoroethylene-co-perfluoropropyl vinyl ether) - PFA, arising from the losses in the process of high-performance tubes produced in fluoropolymers, enabling the intelligent use of resources that are already in use in the production process. The other, will evaluate the effect of the degradation of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) in simulated soil, in order to verify the impacts of the product on the environment and, thus, to identify the way to control and manipulate the biodegradation, after the use and time of product life, seeking products that are increasingly friendly to nature.
Mantova's practice is to support studies and research with the purpose of boosting novelties in the market, through the diversification of the product line, differentiation of performance and the use of new materials in the production process. Investing in relevant ideas and solutions in conjunction with academia is essential to obtain real gains in productivity and competitiveness in the plastics industry.
